The 4th Annual Christmas House Decorating Contest and Community Bonfire was a great success, and I would like to thank all of you for participating by decorating your properties so beautifully. It was nice to see such a large turn-out at Bennett Park, too.

The judges had a very tough time determining winners and in the end, there were 20 award winners, and another 16 honorable mentions. Special thanks to Keith Colwell for judging the contest for the 4th time, and for donating the Merriest Street in Mineville award, which will be placed in the Bennett Park building. He also took the time to have HRM certificates printed up, and these will be given to all award winners and active participants. Keith has a lot of enthusiasm for this event, and has added to its growth over the years. Thanks, Keith.

Norma White from Saltscapes magazine judged for the second year in a row. She also donated 3 gift subscriptions and 5 Taste of Nova Scotia cookbooks as prizes. We are grateful for Saltscapes' continued support of our community.

Leslie MacFarlane and Marcia Simmons were our other judges. Leslie also donated 2 hours of decorating services for a lucky winner. They both had fun and added a lot of expertise to the judging!

The judges were chauffered by Doug Colson who also decorated the sleigh, the building and the tree at the park. Thanks, Doug, for all you did yet again. And to Santa for taking the time out of your busy schedule!

Crissy and Robert Sears did a lot of behind the scenes organizing for us, and Crissy kept the hot chocolate flowing. Thanks to their friends, Colin and Sabrina for helping at the park. Crissy is also the new events chairperson for the MCA. Welcome Crissy!

Porter's Lake Tim Horton's donated the hot chocolate and timbits, so thanks to Bruce Vianneau, manager.

No Christmas party is complete without carols, and Kevin and Paula MacDonald from Candy Mountain Road played and sang beautifully. Thanks, guys.
